One-on-One Attention. A Team Behind Every Application.

Every student works directly with one dedicated advisor, ensuring a consistent, personal experience from beginning to end. But behind the scenes, their essays and applications benefit from multiple perspectives. Our team reviews each student's narrative, evaluates their application as a whole, and collaborates on strategies to present their strengths in the most compelling and authentic way.

Before submission, our entire team comes together to review each application, much like a mock admissions committee. We read the essays, evaluate the application holistically, discuss how the student might be perceived by an admissions officer, and identify opportunities to strengthen their candidacy. We challenge one another's perspectives, ask difficult questions, and refine our strategy until we're confident the application presents the strongest possible version of the student.

Every student has one trusted advisor, but an entire team invested in their success.

Essays are a student's chance to become a whole person on the page, to an admissions reader who might otherwise see only numbers.

We help students show that they are far more than a transcript and a set of scores, by finding the moments and stories that capture their personal journey of discovery.

Personal Statement Writing

We usually begin with the personal statement, the 650-word Common App essay that is sent to every college on the student's list. We guide students through brainstorming, free-writing, outlining, drafting, trimming, and polishing. We can also join at any stage to help with a specific need when a student already has ideas or drafts of their own.

We never write the essay for the student. Instead we ask questions that spark ideas and free-writes, and then use what the student creates to support the rest of the application, which saves valuable time on supplements.

We generally suggest finishing a personal statement draft during the summer before senior year.

Supplemental Essays

We help students brainstorm, outline, draft, and edit each supplement. We encourage them to research what makes each school and program special so they can explain why it truly matches their goals, and to keep key themes running through the whole application.

We also map out the entire process, noting where essay prompts overlap so students can reuse and adapt their material efficiently. For early applications, we recommend working on supplements in late summer and early fall of senior year, and regular-decision essays can follow right after.

Application Review

We help students keep to their timeline, complete the activities section, proofread the Common App, and double-check each supplement so everything is finished well and on time. Our role is to support the school counseling office, never to replace it.

The Kang Difference

We want students to present the best version of who they already are, never a persona built to impress. We look for what excites each student and encourage them to pursue it fully. When it is time to write, they can share their most meaningful experiences honestly, and that authenticity is what moves admissions readers.
